Questions parents ask us most.
Everything you'd want to know before your child's first story.
SLEEPO is a nonprofit personalized storytelling program for children and families. We create bedtime stories inspired by each child's age, interests, strengths, culture, experiences, and growth goals. The stories are designed to support confidence, character, healthy habits, emotional awareness, cultural connection, and meaningful family time.
Instead of giving every child the same story, SLEEPO builds stories around an individual child. A story may reflect the child's name, favorite activities, family traditions, talents, challenges, or a life lesson selected by the parent. The goal is for children to recognize their own world in the story and connect more deeply with its message.
Create your child's profile at register.sleepo.org. You will share a few basics and complete the SLEEPO Success Matrix so we understand what to build the stories around.
Most families receive their first personalized story within a day or two after completing the Success Matrix.
SLEEPO stories are designed for children roughly ages 2–12, with story tone and complexity adjusted to your child's age.
No. Bedtime is a natural time for calm listening and family connection, but stories can also be enjoyed during quiet time, car rides, travel, or other family moments.
SLEEPO focuses on a personalized listening experience. We will craft personalized stories for your child, and after your approval, they will be recorded as audio stories to be played at bedtime.
We suggest at least 3 stories per week to help make SLEEPO a familiar part of your child's routine. If you'd like additional stories, feel free to ask the SLEEPO team.
Yes. Children often enjoy returning to familiar stories, and repeated listening can reinforce positive messages and make the story part of a comforting routine.
SLEEPO is a nonprofit family program, not a commercial story subscription. The heavily subsidized price is for families' ongoing involvement & commitment to the program.
As an early nonprofit still building our community, we're currently offering 50% off the participation fee for families who join now as Founding Families. This discount applies to our full pricing — including the sibling rate — and stays with you for as long as you remain an active, continuously enrolled family in the SLEEPO program. For one child, that brings the rate down to $25 per month.
You start with your first month free (no credit card required).
Your first month is free, with no credit card required. Our standard participation fee is $50 per month for the first child and $40 for each additional sibling. Families joining now receive our 50% Founding Family rate, bringing the current fee to $25 per month for one child, $45 for two children, $65 for three, and $85 for four.
| Children enrolled | Monthly fee |
|---|---|
| One child | $50$25 |
| Two children | $90$45 |
| Three children | $130$65 |
| Four children | $170$85 |
Prices shown reflect the current 50% Founding Family discount off our standard rate.
Each enrolled child has an individual profile and personalized story experience.
The sibling rate applies to each additional sibling enrolled as part of the same family. Contact us if you have questions about a particular family arrangement.
Yes. There's no long-term contract — you can cancel whenever it makes sense for your family, with no notice required. Your subscription stays active through the end of your current paid month, so you'll have full access until then.
Under special circumstances, we're able to offer a one-month pause of your subscription. This can help preserve your current rate if you think you might return. Reach out to us at amit@sleepofoundation.org and we'll take a look at what works for your family.
Re-enrollment is available at our regular, full participation fee rate. Any discounted or founding family pricing applies only to an active, continuous subscription and is not retained after cancellation.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, SLEEPO uses participation fees and donations together to sustain the program and fund access for families who need additional support.
Sponsored participation or financial assistance may be available depending on current donations and program resources. Families who need support are encouraged to contact SLEEPO privately at amit@sleepofoundation.org.
A fee paid in exchange for program participation is generally different from a charitable donation. Please consult a qualified tax professional about your situation. Separate donations to SLEEPO Foundation may be tax-deductible as permitted by law.
Your child's name, interests, and the strengths, growth areas, life skills and values, and passions you share through the Success Matrix — details that make each story feel written specifically for them.
No. Share only what you are comfortable providing. More detail can make a story feel more personal, but please do not submit highly sensitive information such as passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, medical records, or exact daily schedules.
Yes. Children's interests and needs change. Parents can provide new preferences, goals, or feedback so future stories continue to feel relevant.
Yes. Parents can suggest a skill, habit, family value, or situation for a story to explore — such as confidence, friendship, kindness, perseverance, organization, healthy habits, cultural traditions, school experiences, or trying something new. We aim to communicate lessons through enjoyable stories.
Yes — we design with diverse families in mind and personalize stories to reflect your family's traditions and values wherever possible.
Language availability depends on SLEEPO's current capabilities. Share your preferred language during enrollment, and the team will confirm what is available.
Yes, when requested by a parent or guardian. Siblings, parents, grandparents, and other important people can be included using appropriate details supplied by the family. Families may also request a shared sibling story.
You may tell us what kinds of characters your child enjoys. To respect intellectual-property rights, SLEEPO may create an original character with similar positive qualities instead of reproducing a protected character, brand, or story world.
Parents may request age-appropriate stories about experiences such as starting school, making friends, moving, sibling disagreements, performance nerves, or developing a new habit. SLEEPO can support family conversations, but it is not a substitute for medical, psychological, educational, or legal care.
Tell us what did and did not work — the topic, pace, style, characters, language, or personalization. Parent feedback helps SLEEPO better understand your child's preferences and improve future stories.
For the strongest personal connection, SLEEPO suggests considering voices in this order:
Yes. Each enrolled child will have an individual Success Matrix and stories personalized to their age, interests, and goals.
No. Each child will receive stories tailored to their profile. Parents may request a shared sibling story when appropriate.
That is completely fine. Vocabulary, story structure, themes, and length are adjusted for each child's age and developmental level.
SLEEPO is designed as a parent-guided program. A parent or legal guardian enrolls the child, decides what information to share, and can provide feedback. We aim for age-appropriate, respectful, encouraging stories.
Never. Only parents or guardians interact with the SLEEPO team.
Information is used to personalize and deliver your child's stories. SLEEPO does not sell children's or families' personal information. For details about collection, storage, sharing, correction, and deletion, please read our Privacy Page.
A personalized story is accessible only to the parent or guardian of your child. Your child's story will not be used publicly as a sample, testimonial, promotion, or social-media post.
SLEEPO may use technology, including AI-assisted tools, in story development, narration, or program operations. Technology supports the creative process; it does not replace parent involvement, privacy safeguards, content standards, or responsible review.
SLEEPO applies quality and safety standards to personalized content. Parents are also encouraged to listen with their children, particularly when a story addresses a sensitive or family-specific situation.
Yes — SLEEPO Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 39-4188744.
SLEEPO is an educational and family storytelling program, not a medical or therapeutic service. SLEEPO does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical, developmental, behavioral, mental-health, or sleep conditions. Parents with concerns about their child's health, development, behavior, mental health, or sleep should consult an appropriately qualified professional.
No. Stories can support a calm routine, reflection, connection, imagination, and positive family conversations, but SLEEPO cannot guarantee sleep or a specific behavioral, educational, emotional, or health outcome.
No, SLEEPO is completely audio based. Many parents use Bluetooth speakers or a parent can start the story and place the device aside or turn off the display.
Shared listening is encouraged whenever possible. It can create opportunities for connection, reassurance, and simple conversations about the story. Older children may also listen independently based on the parent's judgment.
Try one relaxed question: “What was your favorite part?”, “How did the character feel?”, “What would you have done?”, or “What should happen next?” A warm, brief conversation is enough.
Parents receive information about next steps, expected timing, story access, participation fees, profile updates, and how to provide feedback.
